Description

There’s no one-size-fits-all approach or quick checklist for building diverse, inclusive teams within any organization. Even the most progressive companies are figuring out how to create better systems and processes. What we do know is that more diverse and inclusive teams lead to better outcomes and successes for all. Join us for a workshop where leaders and advocates of diversity, equity, and inclusion at organizations within our industry discuss the importance of building diverse teams and fostering an inclusive company culture.

Learning Objectives:

Workshop attendees will learn about the social and economical advantages of fostering diverse teams, engage in discussion with their peers on the topic of DE&I, and walk away with immediate action items on how they may begin making their work environment more diverse, equitable, and inclusive.

Schedule:

The workshop will include a brief introduction from AUVSI’s DE&I Chair, Mignonne Hollis, and then break out into facilitated roundtable discussions where we'll take a deeper dive into building diverse and inclusive teams. Attendees should come prepared ready to answer the following questions:

  1. What does diversity mean to you? What does equity mean to you? What does inclusion mean to you?
  2. What practices, if any, has your organization committed to in order to improve its DE&I?
  3. What do you see as your role in helping improve DE&I within your organization?
  4. What are some roadblocks or hurdles your organization faces in improving its DE&I?
  5. What do you feel is, or would be, the main benefit in implementing DE&I practices within your organization?
